| Matthew Barker, managing director of the Barker Group, will become Chairman of the Retail Executive Board of the Textile Services Association (TSA) this month, in a move which indicates the Bournemouth-based company's growing influence in the laundry, dry cleaning and textile rental industries. Appointed by co-members of the Association, Matthew will hold the post for a three year term during which he will work to develop excellence in the industry. |

TSA is a UK-based trade association whose members include both large and small companies in the dry cleaning, laundry and textile service industries. It works to represent the sector to Government both in the UK and EU, to regulatory bodies and to the media. Barker Group has held a corporate membership with the TSA for over 20 years.
Matthew Barker says, "Being appointed as Chairman is a great honour, and a reflection of Barker Group's dedication to working with others in the industry to ensure continual improvements within the industry. As Chairman of the Retail Executive Board I will encourage the continued development of the professional dry cleaning industry, and work to generate increased awareness of industry-related issues."
As Chairman Matthew will oversee the development of the industry UK-wide, and strive to deliver improved services to TSA members. This will involve liaison with the Government regarding legislative issues and work to strengthen the industry's current code of practice with the Office of Fair Trading.

Matthew Barker is also the UK's Vice President of the International Dry Cleaning Congress (IDC), and regularly represents the UK's laundry and dry cleaning industry.
