Environmentally-friendly technology introduced for the first time Due to an increase in sales in recent months we have extended our fabric care offering to meet continued demand. We have transformed our Boscombe-based retail branch following extensive refurbishment, and investment in revolutionary dry cleaning technology and equipment. The store, which now features an open-plan layout allowing customers to view behind-the-scenes garment cleaning, is to become our central processing unit for the dry cleaning division of the business. Matthew Barker, managing director of the Barker Group, said, "We have seen a steady increase in demand with like for like retail sales up 6.12% for Barker's Dry Cleaning service in the last year, and are confident that the investment into new equipment and dry cleaning technology will be beneficial for both our customers and the business. The newly refurbished shop will allow for improved efficiency whilst retaining the Barker Group's high standards of cleaning and customer service." We are also the first independent dry cleaner on the south coast to introduce the new cleaning technology 'Green Earth', now available at the Boscombe branch. Green Earth utilises a completely biodegradable non-toxic solvent, which has many benefits for customers. Matthew continues, "Green Earth is an exciting development for the industry, and we are pleased to now be able to offer our customers this service at no extra cost. Staying abreast of new environmental legislation and being one of the first independent dry cleaners to offer alternative processing technology in the UK are key factors in our strategy for improvement and development, whilst offering the best service to our customers."
